Dying your hair at home
At one point in our lives, we'd like to experiment. Especially with our outter appearance. We try out loads of make-up products to find the right one, and we also like to make changes with our hair. Things like chopping off long locks, or adding length with extensions are just a couple of examples. Changing your hair color is another way to make a radical change.
If you want change up your hair color, you have two options: Do it yourself, or go to the hairdressers. When you go to a salon to dye your hair, it will cost a lot more then buying dye at a drugstore and do it yourself. Now if you want a really drastic haircolor, like from black to blonde, I do recommend to go to your hairdresser. Making a huge change like this is pretty risky, and can go wrong easily. But for you people out there who are interested in dying your hair at home, take a look at these tips!
- To start off, you need to buy the right haircolor. Don't look at the haircolor from the models on the boxes, because it might not look the same if you have darker or lighter hair. Instead, look at the overview on the side of the boxes, where they'll show you what the color will look like on light, medium and dark hair.
- Buy enough hairdye. If you have really long hair, get two packs instead of just one. Most likely, one box would only be enough for medium hair. Also consider to get more boxes if your hair is very thick.
- Be prepared. Make sure to not wash your hair at the same day you're going to dye your hair. This is because the hair dye is really agressive, and your hair will need it's natural oils to protect itself. It's going to get a bit messy, so wear an old T-shirt, have a couple of old towels around you and be prepared with gloves. It's very important to read the instructions, so take your time to go through this. Also, check if you're allergic to the hair dye. The day before, do a patch test on the back of your neck, and see if you have any allergic reaction to this.
- Work in sections. If you want your haircolor to be even, work in sections. This is to make sure you've put an even layer of hair dye onto all of your hair. With not sectioning off your hair, you might miss some hair pieces, making the color very uneaven.
- Don't wash your hair out too early! This will affect your haircolor, making it appear different then from what you've expected.
Healthy hair
Our appearance plays a big role now a days. Every morning we make sure we look nice and refreshed, doing things like putting on make-up, picking out a cute outfit and spending lots of time on our hair. And probably a lot of you girls know how frustrating it is when your hair has its own will, still after washing it, blow drying, straightening or curling it.
But aside from keeping your hair nice looking, how do we maintain it's health?
The answer is pretty simple: To just be happy with your hair. Say what? Yes you read it right, just be happy with it. Now this might not apply for people who have really wild hair to begin with. But for you people out there who wonder why your hair doesn't shine anymore, this might be interesting to read.
Now when we're happy with our hair, we most likely won't be burning it from using all kinds of hot tools or throwing in a bunch of chemical products. Because think about it, if you're happy with your hair color, you will not dye it. This is a huge profit for your hair, since it won't have to go through a process of bleaching and coloring.
We also seem to always want what we can't get. Straight haired girls would love to have curly hair, and vice versa. Which makes us use straighteners and curling irons. But once you accept the fact that you're simply born with straight hair, you don't need to use all these irons anymore, and your hair will thank you for that.
So be more gentle for your hair, accept it the way it is. Don't burn, tease and color it that often. But if you do, make sure you protect your hair, and to treat your hair with lots of hairmasks to remain its moisture to keep it the way it is.
